                     FERTILIZATION THROUGH IRRIGATION

THE INJECTOR
AN INNOVATIVE WAY TO FEED YOUR LAWN THROUGH IRRIGATION.
THE INJECTOR TIES INTO YOUR IRRIGATION SYSTEM GIVING A CONSTANT
FEEDING TO YOUR LAWN.  DLI USES BIO-GREEN FERTILIZER THROUGH
THE INJECTOR PROVIDING A SAFE FERTILIZER FOR YOUR LAWN. THERE IS
NO HARSH CHEMICALS TO RUN OFF INTO OUR LAKES AND STREAMS.

ALL IRRIGATION SYSTEM ARE TO START OUT WITH A DESIGN. WHEN DESIGNING A SYSTEM THE FACTORY
SPECIFICATIONS NEED TO BE FOLLOWED.
1- SPACING OF HEADS PROPERLY
2- USE THE RIGHT HEAD FOR THE AREA, DO NOT MIX SPRAY HEADS AND GEAR DRIVE HEADS ON THE
SAME ZONE.
3 SET ALL NOZZLES WITH A MATCHED PRECIPITATION CHART. THIS WILL GIVE EVEN COVERAGE OF
WATER AND CUT DOWN ON WATERING TIMES.
4- DESIGN THE NUMBER OF HEADS ON A ZONE BY YOUR WATER SOURCE.
5- DESIGN YOUR PIPING BY A PIPE  FRICTION LOSS CHART.
6- FOLLOW ALL STATE AND FEDERAL CODES. AS OF 2009 IRRIGATION FALLS UNDER FEDERAL
REGULATION. HOME OWNERS AND CONTRACTORS CAN BE FINED $2500.00 AND 5 YRS. IN PRISON NOT
FOLLOWING THE LAW.
7- IRRIGATION SYSTEMS ARE TO BE DESIGNED AND A STATE SEAL ON THE PLANS.
8- IRRIGATION INSTALLS ARE TO BE DONE BY A LICENSED CONTRACTOR.

FERTILIZATION & SOIL MANAGEMENT

GO GREEN

DLI IS OFFERING A GREAT WAY TO MAINTAIN YOUR LANDSCAPE
SOIL & WATER MANAGEMENT IS THE KEY TO A GREAT LANDSCAPE

YOUR LAWN AND GARDEN IS LIKE BAKING A CAKE. IT CAN LOOK GREAT ON THE OUT SIDE BUT HOW DOES IT TASTE? BIO-GREEN
HELPS FEED THROUGH FOLIAGE AND ROOTS. BIO-GREEN IS ALSO IS A SOIL CONDITIONER. FERTILIZING A COUPLE OF TIMES A
YEAR IS A ROLLER COASTER RIDE FOR YOUR LAWN AND GARDEN. SMALL AMOUNTS ON A REGULAR BASIS KEEPS  THE
NUTRIENTS IN THE SOIL WORKING PROPERLY. THIS WILL CUT DOWN ON WATER USAGE.

THE PH BALANCE OF YOU SOIL IS THE KEY TO A GOOD LAWN. A PH BALANCE OF 6.5 TO 7.0 HELPS THE NUTRIENTS TO BE TAKEN
IN BY THE ROOTS. THIS ALSO HELPS WITH WEED CONTROL. MOST WEEDS IN OUR ZONE DO NOT LIKE A NATURAL PH. THE SOIL IS
JUST LIKE A SWIMMING POOL, IF THE PH IS OFF NOTHING WORKS AND YOU WILL GET ALGAE.

SAME WITH YOUR LAWN IF THE PH IS OFF YOUR LAWN IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO DISEASE AND WEEDS. REMEMBER YOU GET BACK
FROM YOUR LAWN WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT. IT IS GARDENING AND CONSTANT WORK.

BIO-GREEN IS MADE OF NORTH ATLANTIC SEA KELP. THERE IS NO ANIMAL BI-PRODUCTS NO SMELL AND SAFE FOR KIDS AND
PETS. THE IRON IN BIO-GREEN HELPS WITH GREENING YOUR TURF AND PLANTS DURING HOT WEATHER.  GETTING THE SOIL
CONDITIONED RIGHT SAVES ON WATER AND MAKES FOR A HEALTHIER LAWN.

Ever wonder why Earth Worms are all out in the drive and walk way???

Worms bore into the ground feeding off the Microbes in the ground. They should be feeding around 4" to 6" in the ground leaving
behind Worm Castings. The Worm Castings is a level of DECOMPOSING the soil. If they are feeding on the surface they are no
benefit to your soil. The best test for this is after a shower of rain or Irrigation of your lawn and you notice Worms on your walk
and drive way you have a soil problem.

Things that affect your Lawns Worm count.

1 – Compaction

2 – High Levels of Salt

3- Microbes not living.

Chemical Fertilizers and Manure based Organic Fertilizers can contribute to these problems and more.

Chemical Fertilizer Problems

1 – Roller Coaster of consistency

2 – Over and under use

3 - High levels of unneeded Phosphorus
Elevated levels of phosphorus in ecosystems can cause algal blooms, leading to
plant and fish die-off.

4 – High levels of unneeded Nitrogen.
Elevated levels of Nitrogen can leave plants vulnerable to pests and disease because above ground growth
was encouraged.

5- Unused fertilizer runoff into our rivers and streams.

6 - Kills the Microbes in the soil.

Organic Fertilizer Problems (manure based)

1 - Contamination
Often Organic Fertilizers harbor Bacteria, being harmful to pets and people.
Insects are also attracted to Organic Fertilizer

2 – Over use
It is easy to fall into false belief that because something is “Organic “it is
impossible to overdo. Too much Nitrogen-bearing Fertilizers can result in plant growth with little flowering.

3 – Weed Seeds
Manure has to hold a temperature of at least 145 deg. for 30 days.

4 - Over-Applied
When over-applied the fertilizer may take the Nitrogen from the ground to use in
the decomposition Process, temporarily robbing plants of the nutrients they need

5 - Some can contain harmful bacteria such as E coli

Excess Nutrients applied to your lawn can be wasted away during Irrigation and Rainstorms.

This can release too much Nitrogen, Phosphorus and other Nutrients into water ways, resulting in algae bloom, killing fish and
otherwise damaging the water way.

One of the best types of turf we have in our area is K-31

TALL FESCUE Festuca arundinacea
Tall fescue is a cool season, aggressive perennial bunchgrass.  Tall Fescue produces an abundance of basal leaves of up to 12
inches in length.  It can grow to heights of 2 to 4.5 feet if left unmowed.  Tall Fescue is used for lawns, pastures and hay
production along with erosion control from Canada into Florida.  In warmer climates is performs as an annual grass.   Tall Fescue
was introduced to the US from Europe in early 1900's.  Today there are hundreds of varieties grown.  K31 (Kentucky-31) is a
pasture selection that is probably the best known of all Tall Fescues.  Today there are newer "safe endophyte" and "low
endophyte" varieties available that are suitable for forage use without the toxicity of older varieties.

Kentucky 31 Tall Fescue:
K31 is a hardy perennial Fescue that produces an open type growth and abundant bottom leaves.  Deep rooted, tolerant of alkaline
and acid soils, and is a very drought tolerant grass.  Kentucky-31 will go dormant under stress (heat / drought / low
temperatures)  With good production practices makes an adequate forage or hay crop.  Planted on millions of acres of pastures,
lawns and roadsides throughout the South East.  Okay for cattle under proper rotational management but seldom recommended
anymore due to supply of improved "friendly endophyte" varieties...  Not recommended at all for use with horses
